Dominic Newman (born 7 November 1996)[1][2] is afield hockey player fromNew Zealand,[3] who plays as a midfielder.[4]
Dominic Newman was born and raised inChristchurch, New Zealand.[2]
Newman debuted for theNew Zealand U-21 team in 2016 at theJunior Oceania Cup held in theGold Coast.[5] He followed this up with an appearance at theFIH Junior World Cup inLucknow.[6]
In 2016, Newman made his official debut for theBlack Sticks during theTrans–Tasman Trophy inAuckland.[7][5][8]
Following his debut, Newman went on to represent New Zealand throughout 2017, most notably at theSultan Azlan Shah Cup inIpoh.[5]
2018 was Newman's most notable year with the national team. In April, he won a silver medal with the side at theCommonwealth Games held in the Gold Coast.[9] He continued representing the Black Sticks in internationaltest matches throughout the year,[5] culminating with an appearance at theFIH World Cup inBhubaneswar.[10]
Newman has also appeared in the2019 and2020–21 editions of theFIH Pro League.[11]
