Diourbel (Arabic:ديوربل;Serer:Jurbel,Wolof:Njaaréem) is a town and urban commune inSenegal lying east ofThiès. It is known for itsmosque and localgroundnut industry and is the capital of theDiourbel Region. The population in 2023 was 157,554.[1]
Diourbel lies on theN3 road linking it toDakar and is also served by a junction station on theDakar-Niger Railway. Both the railway and the N3 cross theRiver Sine in the town.
