TheDiocese of Talibon is aLatin Church ecclesiastical territory ordiocese of theCatholic Church in the Philippines, headquartered inTalibon,Bohol. It is one of two dioceses in the province ofBohol, the other being theDiocese of Tagbilaran. Both dioceses aresuffragan to theArchdiocese of Cebu.
The Diocese is one of two dioceses in the province ofBohol and part of the ecclesiastical province of theArchdiocese of Cebu. It was created on January 9, 1986, separating half the civil province of Bohol from theDiocese of Tagbilaran.[2] then Pope John Paul II appointed Auxiliary BishopChristian Vicente Noel as the First Bishop of Talibon, the Diocese comprises the northeastern municipalities of Bohol, consisting of coastalmunicipalities starting fromInabanga in the northwest toJagna in the southeast and interior municipalities bounded byCarmen andSierra Bullones. There are 7 vicariates in the diocese comprising 37 parishes and ministered to by 101 priests.[3] There are also 53 religious sisters active in the running of 16 secondary Catholic schools.[2]
