Austin "Dink"Carroll (November 12, 1899 – April 8, 1991) was a Canadian sports journalist. A columnist for theMontréal Gazette, he won theElmer Ferguson Memorial Award in 1984 and is a member of the media section of theHockey Hall of Fame. He also won theJack Graney Award in 1990 from theCanadian Baseball Hall of Fame and is a member of theCanadian Football Hall of Fame (1986).[1][2][3] Carroll attendedMcGill University, where he played on the football team. He earned aLL.B. degree from there in 1923, but never practiced law.[4] He wrote a column for theGazette from 1941 to 1987.
