Dilip Pandey (born 1 October 1980) is an Indian politician and has representedTimarpur as a Member of theDelhi Legislative Assembly from 2020 to 2025.[1] He was the Convenor of theDelhi Unit ofAam Aadmi Party (AAP) between July 2014 and April 2017.[2]

Career

Pandey left his software job in 2013 to join theAam Aadmi Party.[3]Prior to this, Pandey worked for the Indian IT Major Tata Consultancy Services in the capacity of a Business consultant until FY 2011 and was posted at their Bangalore office.[citation needed]

Political career

Pandey participated in the Anna Movement. He is a spokesperson[4] and member of the screening committee of theAam Aadmi Party.[5][6] In January 2014, Pandey was appointed secretary for political activities in the national capital.[7]

He took over as the convenor of theDelhi unit in July 2014.[8] Under his co-convenorship, the AAP won 67 out of 70 seats in 2015 Delhi assembly elections.[9] Pandey later submitted his resignation in April 2017 after the AAP failed to get the majority in the2017 MCD elections.[10]

He served as the official Spokesperson of theAam Aadmi Party from 2014 to 2024.[11][1]

Dilip has been nominated as theAam Aadmi Party’s in-charge for Delhi's North EastLok Sabha constituency for the 2019 General Elections.[12]

He defeatedBJP's Surinder Pal Singh (Bittoo) in the2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly election to win theTimarpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency).[13][14]

MLA Dilip Pandey was appointedAam Aadmi Party's chief whip in theDelhi Assembly in March 2020.[15]
