Dick Bakker (born 23 May 1947) is a Dutchcomposer,conductor andmusic producer. He succeededRogier van Otterloo as conductor of theMetropole Orkest, serving between 1991 and 2005.
Bakker composed the winningEurovision Song Contest entry of1975 forTeach-In. He has remained an associate with the Eurovision Song Contest and theNationaal Songfestival, composing the Dutch entry for the1982 Event sung byBill van Dijk. He conducted three Dutch Eurovision entries, in1996,1997 and1998. Bakker is a strong supporter of an orchestra's return to the contest.[1]
Bakker has worked as a studio engineer and arranger forShocking Blue (onVenus),Rudi Carrell andPaloma Blanca.
