It is an occasional motif in synthetic organic chemistry.[1] Varioustricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) contain the dibenzocycloheptenemoiety in theirchemical structures, includingamineptine,amitriptyline,amitriptylinoxide,butriptyline,demexiptiline,nortriptyline,noxiptiline, andprotriptyline.Cyclobenzaprine, a skeletalmuscle relaxant, also contains this functional group.
