Dharmapuri is a municipality[2] and themandal headquarters of Dharmapurimandal inJagtial district ofTelangana, India.[3]
Dharmapuri is situated at a distance of about 28–30 km fromJagityal town railway station and 42 km fromMancherial town on theKazipet–Balharshah section of theSouth Central Railway on the Bank ofRiver Godavari. This river flows West to East except in Dharmapuri where it flows North to South hence the river is termed as Dakshina Vahini (South Flowing).
Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is located in Dharmapuri Town. It is the abode ofNarsimha Swamy, the fourth avatar ofVishnu, and his consortDevi Lakshmi. The place has garnered considerable crowd over the years. The temple was built during the reign of theChalukyas, and later expanded by theKakatiyas.[4][5]
