Dey Chopan, also spelled asDaichopan (Persian:دای چوپان), is the northernmostdistrict inZabul province ofAfghanistan. Named after a Hazara clan, the district historically belonged to theHazaras, which was then invaded and depopulated by EmirAbdur Rahman in the 1890's. In 2013, it had a population of about 38,300.[1]
The district’s main ethnic groups are theDai Chopan tribe ofHazaras and theTokhi tribe ofGhiljiPashtuns.[2]
