Dexter Lamar Jackson (born July 28, 1977) is an American former professionalfootball player who was asafety in theNational Football League (NFL). He was selected by theTampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the1999 NFL draft. He playedcollege football atFlorida State.
Jackson won aSuper Bowl with the Buccaneers inSuper Bowl XXXVII; he was also namedSuper Bowl MVP. Jackson also played for theArizona Cardinals andCincinnati Bengals.
Jackson attended Florida State University and was a Human Science Major and aletterman infootball. In football, he was named as anAll-Atlantic Coast Conference as a junior, and he finished his college football career with 194tackles, 7interceptions, 16passes defensed, one forcedfumble, one fumble recovery, and blocked fourfield goals.[1]

Jackson was selected by theTampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round (113th overall) of the1999 NFL draft.[1] He made his NFL debut versus theDenver Broncos.[citation needed]
Jackson was theMVP ofSuper Bowl XXXVII, a 48–21 win over the Oakland Raiders, recording two interceptions.[3] He was the first safety to win the award sinceJake Scott in 1973, the third defensive back overall (joining Scott andLarry Brown).[4]
The Super Bowl win came just before Jackson declared forfree agency. ThePittsburgh Steelers had a verbal agreement to sign Jackson; however, he backed out at the last minute and signed with theArizona Cardinals instead.[5] The Steelers then went to "Plan B" and draftedTroy Polamalu.[6]
Jackson rejoined the Buccaneers in 2004, and played with them until the end of the2005 season.[7][8]
Before the 2006 season, Jackson signed with theCincinnati Bengals as afree agent.[9] He played three seasons with the team before being released on March 6, 2009.[10]
Jackson finished his professional career with theFlorida Tuskers of theUnited Football League. Jackson was among several former Buccaneers on the Tuskers' inaugural roster and played for the team for the2009 season before retiring.[citation needed]
Jackson has coached in the greater Atlanta area withCoachUp, a private coaching service.[11][better source needed]
On September 19, 2011, Dexter Jackson and formerWorld Boxing Organizationcruiserweight world championTyrone Booze began a new radio show called "All Sports" with Randy Harris onClearwater, Florida'sWTAN AM 1340.[12][better source needed] The show has also aired onWDCF,WZHR and online on the Talking Sports Network.[13]
Jackson is married to Tina Jackson (of Miami, FL) and has four daughters: Jazmine, Daisia, Meah, and Taylor.[14] Jackson served as Youth & Recreation Manager for the Tampa Housing Authority, a non-profit organization inTampa. He no longer has a title there.[15][better source needed]
