Devon Graye Fleming is an American actor and screenwriter. He is best known for portraying teenageDexter Morgan in the TV seriesDexter, as well as the secondTrickster inThe Flash. He also wrote the 2019 horror filmI See You.
Graye was born inMountain View, California. He was homeschooled by his parents, while moving around California. Although Graye is American, he lived in the United Kingdom for all four years of high school before moving back toPleasanton when he was 16. He studied acting at theAmerican Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.[1]
Graye began his career on the stage, leading as Stanley in a stage adaption ofLouis Sachar'sHoles. The show played at theOrpheum Theatre inSan Francisco from September to October 2005.[2] He then moved to Los Angeles at 18 in hopes to begin his acting career. After just three months, he was cast in his first role withABC'sA House Divided alongsideDylan McDermott. Just a few months later he would be cast in the hit Americancrime dramaDexter, portraying the younger version of thetitular character.[1] He would appear in multiple episodes from 2006 to 2009.
Graye played Luke in the 2008 Nickelodeon television movieMerry Christmas, Drake & Josh, a companion film to the sitcomDrake & Josh.[3]
In 2010, he starred longsideJohn Cena,Patricia Clarkson, andDanny Glover inWWE Studios' filmLegendary. The film opened to largely negative reviews.[4] He would also have a supporting role in theDisney Channel Original MovieAvalon High, an adaption ofMeg Cabot'sArthurian fantasynovel.[5] The following year, Graye leadBrett Simmon's horror filmHusk[6] and the drama filmExodus Fall.[7]
In 2012, Graye had a guest role on thesecond season ofRyan Murphy'sAmerican Horror Story. His character, Jed Potter, was ademon possessed teen facing off againstJessica Lange.[8]
He would appear in the2014 remake of13: Game of Death, alongsideMark Webber,Tom Bower, andRon Perlman.[9] He also had a role inTom Dolby'sLast Weekend.[10]
In 2015, he was cast as the secondTrickster, a copycat toMark Hamill's character, inThe CW's seriesThe Flash.[11] He was also cast in theLGBTQ+ dramaRetake, replacingLuke Pasqualino.[12] The film, where Graye portrays a young maleprostitute, was released in 2016.[13]
Graye wrote a thriller screenplay titledAllison Adams, which was featured on the 2016Black List for most popular unproduced screenplays.[14] The following year, his script forI See You was picked up and set to be directed by Adam Randall, withHelen Hunt set to lead the film.[15] It premiered in 2019 atSXSW to generally positive reviews.[16]
In 2020, it was announced that Graye's specSwitchboard would be produced byMatt Reeves,Steven Schneider, andArmaan Zorace. The film centers on a young femaleswitchboard operator who finds herself communicating with and possibly targeted by an active serial killer.[17][18]
The psychological thrillerThe Madness Inside Me was released in 2021, with Graye portraying a murderer being stalked by his victim's spouse. It received mixed reviews.[19][20]
Graye had a supporting role in the 2022 psychological horror filmHypochondriac, directed by Addison Heimann. He acted alongsideZach Villa andMadeline Zima.[21][22] He also had an appearance inJordan Peele'sWesternscience fiction horror filmNope, aspaparazzo Ryder Muybridge.[23][24]
Graye had a brief role in the second season of Netflix'sThe Lincoln Lawyer, before being upgraded to a recurring character in 2024 for the third season.[25][26]
A sequel for the hit 2015science fictionpsychological thrillerCircle was announced in June 2024, with Graye writing the script.[27]
Graye is gay and began dating actorJordan Gavaris in September 2013.[28] They married in 2018.[29]
