Desirae Marie Krawczyk (English:/ˈdɛzəreɪˈkrævtʃɪk/DEZ-ər-ayKRAV-chik,Polish:[ˈkraft͡ʂɨk]; born January 11, 1994)[2] is an American professionaltennis player who specializes in doubles.She has a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 7, achieved August 2024, and has won twelve doubles titles on theWTA Tour, including theWTA 1000Canadian Open in 2024.
Krawczyk is a four-timeGrand Slam champion in mixed doubles, having won the2021 French andUS Opens partneringJoe Salisbury, as well as the2021 and2022 Wimbledon Championships alongsideNeal Skupski. She was also runner-up at the2020 French Open in women's doubles, partneringAlexa Guarachi, and the pair were semifinalists at the2021 US Open.
Krawczyk is ofPolish descent on her father's side, and ofFilipino descent on her mother's side.[1][3]
As of 2020,[update] she is in a relationship with Australian tennis playerAndrew Harris.[4][5]
In July 2018, she won her maiden WTA Tour doubles title at theSwiss Open, partnering with ChileanAlexa Guarachi.
She reached her firstmajor final at theFrench Open women's doubles event, partnering Alexa Guarachi, and finished runner-up.[6]
Krawczyk won the mixed-doubles titles at theFrench Open (her first Grand Slam title), partneringJoe Salisbury, and atWimbledon, partnering withNeal Skupski.[7][8][9]
Seeded second, she reached her third mixed-doubles final at theUS Open, again with Salisbury.[10][11][12] They won the title, defeatingGiuliana Olmos andMarcelo Arevalo in straight sets. She became the first player to win three Grand Slam mixed-doubles titles in a year, sinceMartina Hingis andLeander Paes in 2015.[13]
At theMadrid Open, she reached her firstWTA 1000 doubles final. Partnering withDemi Schuurs, she lost to Giuliana Olmos andGabriela Dabrowski.[14]
At theWimbledon Championships, she won her second consecutive title at this major in mixed doubles, partnering again with Neal Skupski, and fourth title overall.[15] At the same tournament, partneringDanielle Collins, she reached the semifinals for the third time at a major in doubles in her career.[16] She made her top 10 debut in the doubles rankings on July 11, 2022.
In October, she qualified for her second consecutiveWTA Finals with Schuurs.[17][18] The pair reached the semifinals, making it the third time for Schuurs.[19]
At theCharleston Open partnering withDanielle Collins, she won her eighth doubles title defeating top seeds Giuliana Olmos andEna Shibahara. As a result, she reached a new career-high doubles ranking of world No. 9, on April 10, 2023.
At theEastbourne International, partnering Schuurs, she won her tenth doubles title and fifth at the WTA 500 level.[20] She reached a new career-high ranking of No. 8 on August 14, 2023 following her second WTA 1000 final at theCanadian Open.
At theAustralian Open, Krawczyk was attempting to complete thecareer Grand Slam in mixed doubles partnering withNeal Skupski. They lost to third seeded newly formed pair and first-time mixed doubles major finalists ofJan Zielinski andHsieh Su-wei.[21][22]
PartneringCaroline Dolehide, they reached the final of the WTA 1000Qatar Ladies Open but lost toLuisa Stefani and former Krawczyk’s partner Schuurs.[23]
Krawczyk and Skupski made it into the mixed doubles final at theFrench Open but lost to the German/French pairing ofLaura Siegemund andEdouard Roger-Vasselin.[24]
She won her first WTA 1000 doubles title at theCanadian Open with Dolehide, defeatingGabriela Dabrowski andErin Routliffe in the final.[25]
Dolehide and Krawczyk qualified for the end-of-seasonWTA Finals inRiyadh, Saudi Arabia, but they were eliminated in the group stages after losing all three of their matches.[26]
PartneringGiuliana Olmos, Krawczyk won the doubles title at theSingapore Open, defeatingWang Xinyu andZheng Saisai in the final.[27]
