Operated by Canadian amateur astronomerWilliam Kwong Yu Yeung, the observatory's primary purpose is the observation and discovery ofcomets andminor planets, which includeasteroids andnear-Earth objects. At the observatory, Bill Yeung has discovered more than 1,500 minor planets.[a]
