Derick Osei Yaw (born 10 September 1998) is a French professionalfootballer who plays as a striker.
Derick Osei Yaw was born inToulouse, in theSouth of France, to Ghanaian parents. His father was born inKumasi and his mother inAccra. He acquiredFrench nationality on 11 January 1999 through the collective effect of his parents'naturalization.[2]
On 30 January 2019, Osei signed forStade Brestois 29 on a two-year contract, joining fromToulouse FC.[3] He made his professional debut for Brest in a 1–1Ligue 2 tie withGazélec Ajaccio on 15 February 2019.[4]
On 2 July 2020, he left theFrench club.[5]
On 21 August 2020, Osei Yaw signed with English clubOxford United on a two-year contract.[6] He made his debut for the club on 5 September as a late substitute in anEFL Cup tie againstAFC Wimbledon, which Oxford won 4–3 on penalties after the game finished 1–1. On 8 September, he scored his first goal for the club in a 2–1 win overChelsea U21s in anEFL Trophy tie,[7] and on 10 November 2020 he scored the winning goal as Oxford beatLeague Two sideWalsall 0–1 to go through to the knockout stages of the same competition.[8] On 1 February 2021, Osei Yaw joined Walsall on loan for the remainder of the 2020–21 season.[9] On 2 September 2021, Osei Yaw left Oxford by mutual consent.
On 19 March 2022, Osei signed forEFL League One sideAFC Wimbledon on a short-term contract until the end of the 2021–2022 season.[10] He departed theDons at the end of the season.[11]
On 6 October 2022, Osei signed forScottish Championship sideDundee until the end of the season.[12] Osei made his debut off the bench in aScottish League Cup game againstRangers.[13] Osei scored his first goal for theDark Blues on 28 October, scoring a late equaliser againstQueen's Park.[14] He would net two goals coming off the bench in a 6–2Scottish Cup win overAirdrieonians the following month.[15] On 16 January 2023, Osei left Dundee after the club activated a break clause in his contract.[16][17]
On 21 August 2024, Osei returned to French football withChampionnat National clubNîmes Olympique.[18][19] Osei made his debut forLes Crocodiles off the bench on 30 August, in a league defeat away toValenciennes.[20] In November 2024, it was reported that Osei's deal with Nîmes had ended after playing 4 games for the club.[21]
On 28 February 2025, Osei joinedBulgarian First League sidePFC Cherno More Varna on a short-term deal until the end of the season.[22] On 15 March, Osei made his debut forThe Sailors as a substitute in an away draw againstCSKA Sofia.[23] On 19 April, Osei scored his first goal for Cherno More in a league draw at home toPFC Beroe Stara Zagora.[24]
Osei Yaw is a youth international for France, and represented theU20s at the2017 Toulon Tournament.[25]
