Derek Bekar (born September 15, 1975) is aCanadian businessman and former professionalice hockey player. Bekar was born inBurnaby, British Columbia.
He played a total of 11 games for theSt. Louis Blues,Los Angeles Kings, and theNew York Islanders, scoring no points. He was drafted 205th overall by the Blues in the1995 NHL Entry Draft. He also had spells in Switzerland'sNationalliga A forEHC Basel and in theDeutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany for theHannover Scorpions andHK Acroni Jesenice of theAustrian Hockey League. He also played briefly in the United Kingdom, playing three games in theBritish National League with theDundee Stars.
On February 1, 2009. he moved fromSpringfield Falcons, who play in theAmerican Hockey League toLausanne Hockey Club of theNationalliga B, before finishing his professional career withHYS The Hague in the Netherlands.
Since March 2009 he has been a senior vice president atGlacial Energy.
