TheDepartment of Information Technology and Digital Services is one of thedepartments ofGovernment of Tamil Nadu.
The objectives of the department are to provide government services through theinternet, enable adoption ofInformation technology in governance, increasesoftware exports from the state, providecable television and enable the adoption ofTamil incomputing.[1][2]
As of 2022[update], The state is amongst the majorInformation technology (IT) exporters of India with a value of₹57,687 crore (US$6.8 billion).[3][4] Established in 2000,Tidel Park in Chennai was amongst the first and largest IT parks in Asia.[5] The presence ofSEZs and government policies have contributed to the growth of the sector which has attracted foreign investments and job seekers from other parts of the country.[6][7] In the 2020s, Chennai has become a major provider ofSaaS and has been dubbed the "SaaS Capital of India".[8][9]
