Dennis McCarthy (born July 3, 1945) is an Americancomposer oftelevision andfilm scores.[1][2] His soundtrack credits include several entries in theStar Trek franchise, including underscores forThe Next Generation,[1]Deep Space Nine,[1]Voyager,Enterprise, and the 1994 feature filmStar Trek Generations.[3] His other television credits includeDynasty,V,MacGyver,Sliders,Dawson's Creek, andProject Greenlight.[1] He also produced thealbumOl' Yellow Eyes Is Back byBrent Spiner also fromStar Trek, and composed music forstage productions.[4]
McCarthy has won 18ASCAP awards and aPrimetime Emmy Award for his theme onDeep Space Nine, in addition to nine Emmy nominations for his variousStar Trek-related work. He also shares one Emmy for his music direction for the63rd Academy Awards.
