Dehong Mangshi International Airport (IATA:LUM,ICAO:ZPMS) is an airport servingMangshi inDehong,Yunnan,China.
Mangshi Airport first opened in 1940 duringSecond Sino-Japanese War with a 1,900 meters runway.[3] Some ofP-40,C-46 andC-47 had landed here for military purpose.[4] After 1945, the airport was deserted.[4] In 1985,Dehong prefectural government suggested to reconstruct the airport.[4] China central government agreed to the request in 1987.[5] Reconstruction project started in 1988.[6] Finally, the airport opened in 1990 with a 2,200 meters runway.[3]China Southwest Airlines offered public flights between Mangshi and Kunming at that time.[3]
In 2003, theCAAC renamed it to Dehong Mangshi Airport.[7] The first round expend construction started in 2006 and finished in 2009.[8] The terminal was renovated as apeacock shape, and twoairbridges was built.[9] Mangshi airport upgraded to an international airport in 2016,[10] and the second round expend construction started.[11] In 2018, the expend construction finished and the runway expanded to 2,600 meters.[12] On 31 January 2019,Ruili Airlines opened the first international flight toMandalay,Myanmar.[13]
