Deandre Christopher Kerr (born November 29, 2002) is a Canadiansoccer player who plays as aforward forToronto FC inMajor League Soccer

Early life

Kerr began playing youth soccer with Ajax SC at age seven.[2] Afterwards, he played forPickering FC's United FA OPDL team.[2][3] He then moved to Whitby SC and in 2018 went on trial with Scottish Premier League clubs.[4] In November 2018, he joined theToronto FC Academy.[5][6]

College career

In 2020, he began attendingSyracuse University, playing for themen's soccer team. In his freshman season, he led the team with four goals and was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.[7][8] In his sophomore season, he led the team in goals with nine and in points with 21,[9] was named to the second team All-Region,[10] a 2021 All-ACC First Team selection,[11] and Syracuse team MVP.[12]

Club career

He was on the roster for Whitby'sLeague1 Ontario teamDarby FC in 2018, but did not feature in any matches.[13][14]

On January 21, 2022, he signed a three-yearHomegrown player contract with Toronto FC, with options for 2025 and 2026.[15] In his unofficial debut in pre-season, he scored twice in a 5-4 loss to theLA Galaxy on January 29.[16] He started in theToronto FC season opener againstFC Dallas on February 26.[17] In 2023, he finished as the team's co-leading scorer, alongside Italian Designated PlayersLorenzo Insigne andFederico Bernardeschi with five goals.[18] On May 21, 2024, he scored four goals in an 8-1 victory overCS Saint-Laurent in the2024 Canadian Championship.[19]

International career

Born in Canada, Kerr is of Jamaican descent. He played three matched for Canada U15 at the2017 CONCACAF Boys' Under-15 Championship.[2]

He started all three matches forCanada U17 at the2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup.[20]

In May 2023, Kerr was listed on theCanada preliminary rosters for the2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals.[21]
