TheDayton Owls was aminor leagueice hockey team in theInternational Hockey League (IHL) during the 1977–78 season.[1] The team was based inDayton, Ohio, and played home games at theHara Arena. TheColumbus Owls had relocated to Dayton for the 1977–78 season, filling the void left by theDayton Gems. Midway during their first season, on December 15, 1977 the Dayton Owls relocated toGrand Rapids, Michigan and became theGrand Rapids Owls.
