Adawr (Arabic:دور orالدور; plural:adwar,أدوار; also spelleddour) is a genre ofArabic vocal music sung in regional or colloquialArabic. The genre faded in popularity after the 1920s and often used themelismatic technique ofahaat.[1]
Thedawr often uses a string ofmaqamat, moving from one to the other in sequence.
Dawr can also refer to the first section of amuwashshah.
