David Pasquesi (born December 22, 1960) is an American actor and comedian. His screen credits includeFather of the Bride (1991),Common Law (1996),Strangers with Candy (1999),The Watcher (2000),Employee of the Month (2004),According to Jim (2005),The Beast (2009),Boss (2011),Chicago Fire (2013), andLodge 49 (2018)
Pasquesi, who is ofItalian heritage, was born inChicago and raised inLake Bluff, Illinois. He graduated fromLake Forest High School.[1]
Pasquesi starred in the short filmRegrets that premieredAn Event Apart, and co-starred inI Want Someone to Eat Cheese With.[2] He wrote forExit 57 andStrangers with Candy, co-wrote and appeared[3] in theSpike TV seriesFactory, and co-wrote[4] and co-starred inCop Show. In 2009, he was in the cast ofAngels & Demons, where he played the character Claudio Vincenzi.[5] He co-created and co-wrote the new showMerkin Penal. Similar to his role of "Meat Man Stew" inStrangers With Candy, Pasquesi plays "Knife Man" inAt Home with Amy Sedaris.
Pasquesi has performed atThe Second City,iO Theater,Improv Institute, andAnnoyance Theatre. He studied underDel Close in the early 80s, and became part of the first iO Harold team "Baron's Barracudas". He appeared in four mainstage revues at Second City, as well as in plays at theSteppenwolf Theatre and theGoodman Theatre.
In 2009, he played a supporting role in theHarold Ramis filmYear One as the Prime Minister ofSodom.[6] Pasquesi was a cast member in the Chicago premiere ofYasmina Reza'sGod of Carnage at the Goodman Theatre.
Since 2002, he has been performing withT. J. Jagodowski in the all improvised show "TJ and Dave".[7] In 2006, they began an Off Broadway run, performing monthly at The Barrow Street Theatre in New York City.[8] The Chicago Reader has described the show as "an hour of subtle character development, verbal facility, and pantomimic agility that anticipates and plays off the audience's reactions."[9] Guests of the show includeAugust: Osage County'sTracy Letts, Academy Award NomineeMichael Shannon,SNL'sMike O'Brien, andAbsinthe's Jet Eveleth. The 2009South by Southwest Film Festival included the documentaryTrust Us, This is All Made Up directed byAlex Karpovsky, which chronicles a "T.J. and Dave" performance.[10][11]
