David Holmes (born 1 January 1981) is a Britishpodcast host, former actor andstunt performer.
Holmes was thestunt double forDaniel Radcliffe asHarry Potter in the first six films of theHarry Potter film series. He played aSlytherinbeater inHarry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, but an error in the film's credits lists him as playing the character Adrian Pucey instead; that role was actually played by Scot Fearn.[2]
In January 2009 Holmes was seriously injured and left partially paralysed after an accident during the filming of a stunt test forHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.[3][4][5] He is credited in the finished film as a stunt performer.
After becoming disabled, he took up automobile racing, driving a car with hand controls which he could operate. With two friends – also paralysed – Holmes started Ripple Productions, which in 2020 launched a podcast with Daniel Radcliffe, calledCunning Stunts, interviewing other stunt actors to raise awareness about the risks they face.[6][7]
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, a documentary about Holmes's life, premiered atDoc NYC on 13 November 2023 before being released onHBO on 15 November 2023.[8] Daniel Radcliffe served as the film's executive producer.[9]
