David Thomas Culbert (born 17 March 1967 inSydney) is a former internationaltrack and field athlete. In an internationallong jump career that spanned ten years, he won twoCommonwealth Games silver medals in1990 and1994[1] and also made finals at the1992 Olympics.[2]
Culbert won the BritishAAA Championships title at the1992 AAA Championships.[3][4]
Since his retirement, he has established himself as Australia's track and field commentator working withChannel 7 andSBS as well as various radio stations. In 2004 and 2005 he hosted a Sunday morning discussion show,The Insiders on Melbourne stationSEN 1116.
In his role as a commentator, he has called Athletics at the 2000, 2004 and2008 Olympic Games,1998 and2002 and2006 Commonwealth Games and the past fiveWorld Athletics Championships.
He has also held the role of reporter/producer onChannel Seven programsTalking Footy,The Olympic Show andSportsworld.
Culbert runs a sports media, promotion and marketing firm calledJump Media and has clients includingAthletics Australia and theAustralian Commonwealth Games Association.
He has worked on projects forHockey Australia, theInternational Triathlon Union andGymnastics Australia.
