At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city population was 15,524 in 4,028 households, when it was in the formerBorkhar District ofBorkhar and Meymeh County.[b] The following census in 2011 counted 16,848 people in 4,805 households,[6] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Borkhar County. Dastgerd was transferred to the new Central District.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 17,775 people in 5,408 households.[2]
