DarkState is avillainousprofessional wrestling stable that performs inWWE appearing on itsNXT brand. The group consists of leaderDion Lennox, Cutler James,Saquon Shugars, and Osiris Griffin. Shugars and Griffin are the currentNXT Tag Team Champions in the stable'ssecond reign.
After losing multiple matches and feeling disrespected in late 2024 and early 2025, Lennox began to have a change of attitude on the January 21, 2025 episode ofNXT after losing toWes Lee.[1] He returned atNXT Vengeance Day on February 15 with James, Shugars, and Griffin,[2] attackingJosh Briggs andYoshiki Inamura andNXT Tag Team ChampionsNathan FrazerandAxiom as well asNXT ChampionOba Femi after their respective matches, turning heel in the process.[3] The group made their second appearance atNXT: Roadblock on March 11, where they attackedJe'Von Evans after his match.[4] On the following week, the group's name was revealed as DarkState with Lennox revealed as their leader.[5] On the April 8 episode ofNXT, Lennox, James and Shugars defeatedTrick Williams, Evans and Femi in asix-man tag team match in their first match as a team.[6] AtNXT Stand & Deliver on April 19, Lennox, Osiris and Shugars facedThe Family (Tony D'Angelo,Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, andLuca Crusifino), where DarkState won after Stacks turned on his team.[7]
On the July 3, 2025 episode ofTNA Impact!, DarkState made theirTotal Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) debut where they attackedMatt Cardona.[8] AtNXT Heatwave, Lennox and Griffin defeated Hank and Tank (Hank Walker andTank Ledger) to win the NXT Tag Team Championship.[9][10] AtNXT vs. TNA Showdown on October 7, Lennox and Griffin lost the titles toTNA World Tag Team ChampionsThe Hardy Boyz in aWinners Take All match, ending their reign at 44 days.[11] AtNXT Halloween Havoc on October 25, Lennox and Griffin regained the NXT Tag Team Championships from The Hardy Boyz, who wrestled as The Broken Hardys, in aBroken Rules match.[12] On the December 10 episode of NXT, Lennox handed Shugars his half of theNXT Tag Team Championship in order to focus on the Iron Survivor match atNXT Deadline, thus making Shugars a champion alongside Griffin.[13]
