Dara Moynihan (born 1998) is an IrishGaelic footballer. At club level he plays withSpa, formerly with divisional sideEast Kerry and at inter-county level with theKerry senior football team.

Career

Moynihan first playedGaelic football to a high standard as a schoolboy atSt Brendan's College inKillarney. He was part of the school team that won back-to-backHogan Cup titles in 2016 and 2017, with Moynihancaptaining the team for the latter victory.[1][2] He later played withMTU Kerry in theSigerson Cup.[3]

By that stage, Moynihan had also progressed to adult level with theSpa club, winning aKerry IFC title in 2020.[4] He had previously lined out with divisional sideEast Kerry and won back-to-backKerry SFC medals in 2019 and 2020.[5][6]

Moynihan first appeared on the inter-county scene withKerry as a member of theminor team that beatGalway in the2014 All-Ireland minor final.[7] A one-year association with theunder-20 team yielded aMunster U20FC medal in 2018.[8]

After his under-20 tenure came to an end, Moynihan was drafted onto thesenior team in 2019. He won the first of fourMunster SFC medals in five seasons that year.[9] Moynihan was a substitute when Kerry were beaten byDublin in the2019 All-Ireland final replay.[10] He won three consecutiveNational League medals from 2020 to 2022. Moynihan won anAll-Ireland SFC medal as a member of the extended panel, after a defeat ofGalway in the2022 final.[11][12]
