Daphniphyllum is the solegenus in theflowering plant familyDaphniphyllaceae and was described as a genus in 1826.[4][5] The genus includes evergreen shrubs and trees mainly native to east and southeastAsia, but also found in theIndian subcontinent andNew Guinea.[6]
All species in the family aredioecious, that is male and female flowers are borne on different plants.[1] In older classifications the genus was treated in the familyEuphorbiaceae.
Daphniphyllum species are eaten by thelarvae of someLepidoptera species including theengrailed (Ectropis sp.).
