Danis Luis Quintero Chevans (born 10 December 1984 inCienfuegos,Cienfuegos Province) is aCuban footballer, who is currently playing for German amateur side FSV Rheinfelden.
Quintero began play withFC Cienfuegos and played eight years for the team before fleeing the country. After a trial with Swiss sideServette[2] he signed forC.A. Valdevez in summer 2009.[3] After a half-year inPortugal, he left Valdevez in February 2010 to sign on 2 February 2010 for the German lower League club SV Nollingen.[4][5]
In 2013 he joined FSV Rheinfelden.[6]
He made his international debut forCuba in a January2007 Caribbean Cup qualification match againstGuadeloupe and has earned a total of 7 caps, scoring no goals.
During2010 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign he played four matches.[7] He was part of the under-20 national team in the qualification for the2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.[8][9] He was part of theCuba national football team at2007 Caribbean Nations Cup[10] and back-up keeper at2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup.[11]
His final international was a December2008 Caribbean Cup qualification match againstGuadeloupe.
NicknamedPulpo (The Octopus), Quintero disappeared from the national team atFrankfurt Airport[12] orDüsseldorf Airport in July 2009[13] after a friendly match againstGerman Bundesliga sideSC Freiburg. After spending time in Switzerland and Portugal he returned to Germany and received a political refugee status after a few months.[14]
