Daniel Seltzer (13 February 1933 — 1 March 1980) was a professor of English atPrinceton University, anactor and aShakespeareanscholar.[1] He was nominated for aTony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play in 1976 for his performance inJules Feiffer'sKnock Knock[2] and had a role in directorPaul Mazursky's 1978 filmAn Unmarried Woman starringJill Clayburgh.[3]
Seltzer graduated from Princeton in 1954, received hisPhD fromHarvard University in 1957, and taught at Harvard from 1959 to 1971. He taught at Princeton from 1971 until his death, and was chairman of Princeton'sMcCarter Theatre from 1972 to 1976. He edited Robert Greene'sFriar Bacon and Friar Bungay for the Regents Renaissance Drama Series (1963), Shakespeare'sTroilus and Cressida for The New American Library (1963), andThe Modern Theater: Readings and Documents for Little Brown (1967).
