Joseph Daniel Pierce (born August 4, 2006) is an American professionalbaseball shortstop in theTampa Bay Rays organization.
Pierce attendedMill Creek High School inHoschton, Georgia .[ 1] As a junior in 2024, he batted .345 with two home runs and 25 RBI, with 13 stolen bases.[ 2] During the 2024 summer season, Pierce batted .408 with two home runs and 26 RBI.[ 3]
Pierce entered his senior year in 2025 as a top prospect for the2025 Major League Baseball draft .[ 4] [ 5] He finished his senior seasonslashing .451/.605/.939 with eight home runs, 27 RBI, and 18 stolen bases.[ 6] [ 7] He committed to playcollege baseball at theUniversity of Georgia .[ 8]
Professional career [ edit ] Pierce was selected by theTampa Bay Rays with the 14th overall pick in the2025 Major League Baseball draft .[ 9] [ 10] He signed with Tampa Bay for a $4.31 million signing bonus on July 18, 2025.[ 11]
