Daniel Maksim Lorer (Bulgarian: Даниел Лорер; born 28 May 1976) is a Bulgarian politician who served as the firstMinister of Innovation and Growth of Bulgaria in thePetkov Government and is currently a Member of theNational Assembly of Bulgaria.
Daniel Lorer graduated from theFirst English Language School. His mother is amicroelectronics engineer and a Europeanbridge champion, while his father is amathematician, lecturer atSofia University and entrepreneur.[1]
He graduated in computer science and business administration fromTel Aviv University. He has worked and lived inSofia,Tel Aviv,Brussels,Zürich andBarcelona and speaks English, Hebrew, French, Russian and some German.[2]
From 1995 to 1998 he participated in the youth movement of theIsraeli Labor Party.
In 2013, he was an advisor to the Minister of Electronic Governance in Bulgaria in thecaretaker government of Marin Raykov (13 March - 29 May 2013), appointed byPresidentRosen Plevneliev.[3]
In 2021, he became an advisor of the caretaker Minister of EconomyKiril Petkov in thefirst caretaker government of Stefan Yanev, appointed by PresidentRumen Radev.[4]
He was elected as a member of the 47thNational Assembly in the2021 Bulgarian general election and served for 10 days before becoming minister in thePetkov Government.
He served as the firstMinister of Innovation and Growth in thePetkov Government (13 December 2021 - 2 August 2022).[5]
He was re-elected as a representative both in the 48th and the 49thNational Assemblies. He is currently a member of the Foreign Policy committee and the Economic Policy and Innovation committee.[6]
