Daniel Santos Bragança (born 27 May 1999) is a Portuguese professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forSporting CP.

Club career

Born inFazendas de Almeirim,Santarém District, Bragança spent his entire youth career withSporting CP.[3] On 10 January 2019, he was loaned toLigaPro clubFarense until the end ofthe season.[4] He scored his first goal on 14 April to open a 3–1 home win againstEstoril,[5] and followed it five days later with another in a 1–1 draw withPenafiel also at theEstádio de São Luís.[6]

Bragança was loaned again to a second-tier side on 9 August 2019, this time Estoril.[7] He wassent off on 3 November for pulling the hair ofAcadémico de Viseu'sKelvin Medina, and received a two-match ban.[8]

Bragança made his competitive debut on 24 September 2020 in thethird qualifying round of theUEFA Europa League at home toAberdeen, as an 86th-minutesubstitute forWendel in a 1–0 victory.[9] Three days later, he appeared in his firstPrimeira Liga game, a 2–0 away defeat ofPaços de Ferreira where he featured 25 minutes in place ofLuciano Vietto.[10] He finishedthe campaign with 25 official appearances – 21 in the league – for the champions, and was given an improved salary at its closure.[11]

On 18 December 2021, Bragança scored his first goal for the club, closing the 3–0 away defeat ofGil Vicente.[12] He missed the entire2022–23 due to ananterior cruciate ligament injury.[13][14]

Bragança marked his 100th Sporting competitive appearance on 6 April 2024, in the 2–1 home win overBenfica in theLisbon derby; he played 42 minutes in place ofHidemasa Morita.[15]

On 15 February 2025, early into the league fixture againstArouca, Bragança again injured the ACL of his knee (left one this time), going on to be sidelined for nearly one year.[16] He returned to action the following 4 January, featuring 28 minutes forSporting's reserves in a 1–2 second-division loss to Académico Viseu.[17] Two weeks later, on his first appearance for the main squad since his comeback, he scored to close the 3–0 league victory overCasa Pia.[18]

International career

On 5 September 2019, Bragança won his firstcap for thePortugal under-21 team, playing the entire 4–0 win againstGibraltar for the2021 UEFA European Championshipqualifiers.[19] Selected for the finals in Hungary and Slovenia,[20] he played all six games for the runners-up, starting in four.[21][22][23][24][25][26]
