Daniel Nicholas Armstrong (born 24 March 2005) is a Finnishfootballer who plays as adefender andmidfielder forAtalanta U23 inSerie C and theFinland U19 national team.

Youth career

Armstrong played in the youth sector ofIlves inTampere, Finland, before joining theyouth academy ofSerie A clubAtalanta on a two-year deal in 2022, for an undisclosed fee.[2][3][4][5][6]

International career

Armstrong has worn the captain's armband in under-15, under-17 and under-18 youth national team games.

Armstrong was named in the Finland U17 squad for the2022 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification tournament, againstBosnia-Herzegovina,Switzerland andGibraltar, scoring one goal and providing an assist in three games. Finland finished 2nd in the group and advanced to theElite round. In March 2022, Armstrong was also named the captain in the Finland U17 squad in theElite round matches againstPortugal,Bulgaria andIreland.[7]

Armstrong was part of the Finland U18 squad winning the friendly tournament Baltic Cup in June 2023.[8]

In October 2023, Armstrong was part of the Finland U19 squad in the2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualification tournament, in three games againstRomania,Czech Republic andSan Marino.[9]

Personal life

Armstrong holds dual Finnish-English citizenship. He is the son ofKeith Armstrong, an English-Finnish former professional footballer who has played and coached successfully in Finland for decades.
