Dan Lemmon is aNew Zealand visual effects supervisor. In 2012, he was nominated for anAcademy Award for the movieRise of the Planet of the Apes. This was in the category ofAcademy Award for Best Visual Effects, his nomination was shared withDaniel Barrett,Joe Letteri andR. Christopher White.[1]

His second nomination was at the87th Academy Awards for the filmDawn of the Planet of the Apes. His nomination was shared with Letteri, Barrett, andErik Winquist.[2] He received his third nomination (and first win) at the89th Academy Awards forThe Jungle Book, together withRobert Legato,Adam Valdez, andAndrew R. Jones.[3] His fourth nomination was at the90th Academy Awards for the filmWar for the Planet of the Apes, together with Letteri, Barrett, andJoel Whist. His fifth nomination was at the95th Academy Awards for the superhero film,The Batman, withRussell Earl,Anders Langlands andDominic Tuohy.[citation needed]

Early career

Lemmon graduated fromBrigham Young University (BYU) and was one of the early students in theBYU Center for Animation.[4] One of Lemmon's earliest credits was for modeling, coloring, lighting, and compositing work onTitanic.[5]
