Galleria Dallas is ashopping mall andmixed-use development located at the intersection ofInterstate 635 and theDallas North Tollway in theNorth Dallas neighborhood ofDallas, Texas. It was originally developed byHines Interests Limited Partnership in 1982. It was modeled after a similar Hines development, theHouston Galleria, which opened in 1970. Both haveice rinks and a glass vaulted ceiling that is modeled after the historicGalleria Vittorio Emanuele II inMilan,Italy. It featuresMacy's,Netflix House andNordstrom.
The mall also houses theWestin Galleria Hotel.The cost of constructing Galleria Dallas was at least $400 million ($1.16 billion, adjusted) when opened in 1982, ranking it as one of the most expensive construction projects for that year, followingWalt Disney World'sEpcot Center.[3]
There are over 210 stores and restaurants, including anice rink and theWestin Galleria Hotel. The property is owned by an investment consortium advised by UBS Realty Investors LLC, a subsidiary ofUBS AG ofZürich, Switzerland, and is managed by Trademark Property Co.
In 1982, the mall, originally named the Dallas Galleria, opened, withanchor tenantsMarshall Field's,Gump's, andSaks Fifth Avenue as well as the 432-roomWestin, aGeneral Cinema Corporation multiplex theater, and a University Club fitness facility.[4] By 1985, the mall was expanded and aMacy's location was opened. On September 7, 1985, the mall was the location ofWFAA-TV Channel 8'sSump'n Else bandstand program's 20th Anniversary live reunion special hosted byRon Chapman andRalph Baker Jr. with special appearances by "The Little Group" dancers and Kenny and the Kasuals, and was also simulcast live onKVIL.
In 1991, Gump's announced it would close both of its Galleria locations in Houston and Dallas. In November 1995, the mall underwent a 75,000 square feet (7,000 m2) expansion. In March 1996,Nordstrom opened as the anchor tenant of its new wing. In 1997, Marshall Field's sold all of its Texas locations, including the location at the mall.[5] Saks Fifth Avenue purchased, renovated, and relocated its store to a new space in 1999, while the original location at the mall was later converted into aGap Inc. megastore housingBanana Republic on the first level, Gap on the second level, andOld Navy on the third level. In October 2000, the General Cinema theater closed. In 2002, Hines Interests sold the mall to UBS Realty Investors LLC ofHartford, Connecticut, for $300 million.[6] By 2003, a major renovation began and the mall's name was changed to "Galleria Dallas."
In April 2005, UBS Realty Investors LLC acquired the Westin Galleria Hotel, which is attached to the mall, from Hines Interests for $95 million.[7]
In April 2009, General Growth Properties, the management company of the mall, declared bankruptcy. In June,Simon Property Group obtained management rights effective August 1.[8]
In August 2011, a man committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the mall and landing on the ice rink.[9]
On March 22, 2012,H&M opened on the second floor across from Saks Fifth Avenue.
On June 15, 2013,Saks Incorporated officially closed itsSaks Fifth Avenue store in Dallas, which was soon renovated and replaced in 2014 byBelk.[10][11]
In April 2018, the AC Hotel and Residence Inn Dallas opened near the mall.[12]
In May 2018, Trademark Property Co. was hired to manage, lease, and replan the mall.[13]
On January 23, 2020, it was announced that Belk would shutter on March 21, 2020 due to theCOVID-19 Pandemic. The previous Belk outpost is slated to become one of the first twoNetflix House experiential retail locations in the U.S., the other being at theKing of Prussia mall near Philadelphia.Netflix House opened in December, 2025.[14]
On November 18, 2022, Nordstrom vacated its third floor as part of a larger department reorganization. The first and second floors remained open, and the company stated it has no plans to close the rest of the store.[15]
On November 18, 2023,Louis Vuitton and Bachendorfs expanded their locations at the center.[16]
On May 23, 2024, H&M Home opened its first location in the Southwest. It is currently the only location in the DFW region.[17]
On October 18, 2024, the first UNIQLO in DFW opened at the center. Uniqlo shortly opened locations atThe Parks Mall at Arlington andStonebriar Centre.[18]
In 2025, the mall underwent renovations, including updates to the ice skating center, remodeled restrooms, and a new corridor between the Westin Hotel and the mall. Green space has been added to the west-facing side of the mall.[19] The mall was also ranked by USA Today as the 3rd best mall in the U.S.[20]
In December 2025, Netflix House opened their second location in the bottom two floors of the former Belk. Additional renovation plans to the mall were revealed, including a renovated food court seating area and a new mall entrance on the first floor of the mall, in the former Pottery Barn space.[21] The mall continues to lease new retailers, such asHelzberg Diamonds,Intimissimi,Aritzia, andAlo Yoga.
