Dale (Norwegian pronunciation:[ˈdɑːɫə])[tone?] orDalekvam is theadministrative centre ofVaksdal municipality, inVestland county,Norway. The village lies at the western end of theBergsdalen valley, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the village ofStanghelle on the shore of theVeafjorden. The village lies along theEuropean route E16, theBergen Line (andDale Station), and the river Daleelva. The 0.72-square-kilometre (180-acre) village has a population (2019) of 1,193 and apopulation density of 1,657 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,290/sq mi).[1] The small village ofDalegarden at the southern end of Dale is included in the "urban area" of Dale.
Dale Church is located in the village. The village is also the site of the internationalDale of Norway company which manufactures wool sweaters and outdoor jackets. There is also atextile mill and other small industries.[3] The newspaperVaksdalPosten has been published in Dale since 1987.[4]
