TheDaily Journal is a daily newspaper inPark Hills, Missouri, United States.It covers local news in the counties ofSt. Francois,Ste. Genevieve,Reynolds,Jefferson,Madison,Iron andWashington.

History

The Leadwood Press was founded on January 10, 1930, by Rev. S.M. Brumfield.[2]

In 1935, the paper was moved toFlat River. In 1940, it was published three times a week under the name theSt Francois County Journal. On September 3, 1946, the St Francois CountyDaily Journal was published for the first time. Noah A. Grieg was a big part of the paper becoming a daily publication.[3]

Madison County's newspaper, theDemocrat News, also ran in the area as well. Later on, theDemocrat News was bought by Lee Enterprises and started running with theDaily Journal in theFredericktown area.

In June 2023,Lee Enterprises sold theDaily Journal and three other newspapers to Better Newspapers Inc.[4] In September 2025, the paper was acquired byPaxton Media Group.[5]
