TheDämeritzsee (German pronunciationⓘ) is alake located inBrandenburg andBerlin,Germany. At an elevation of 32 metres (105 ft), its surface area is 93.5 hectares (231 acres). It is located partly in the municipality ofErkner (Oder-Spree district) and part inRahnsdorf, a Berliner locality inTreptow-Köpenick district.[citation needed]
The lake forms part of the course of theRiver Spree, and is the location of that river's confluence with the shortFlakenfließ that flows out of theFlakensee. The reach of the Spree downstream to theMüggelsee is also known as the Müggelspree.[1]
The Muggelspree and the Flakenfließ are both navigable, and the lake is also linked to the nearbySeddinsee by theGosen Canal. The lake sees considerable sightseeing and leisure traffic, and also forms a link in a commercial navigation route from thelimestone workings atRüdersdorf, which reaches the Flakensee by alock atWoltersdorf, and connects to theRiver Dahme and theOder-Spree Canal via the Seddinsee.[1]
