Czołpino[t͡ʂɔu̯ˈpinɔ] (German:Scholpin)[1] is a village in the administrative district ofGmina Smołdzino, withinSłupsk County,Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.[2] It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) north ofSmołdzino, 31 km (19 mi) north-east ofSłupsk, and 98 km (61 mi) north-west of the regional capitalGdańsk. It is within theSlovincian National Park, on theSlovincian Coast, in the historic region ofPomerania.
The area became part of the emerging Polish state in the 10th century. Following Poland's fragmentation, it formed part of theDuchy of Pomerania and other splinter duchies. From the 18th century it was part of theKingdom of Prussia, and from 1871 it was also part ofGermany. Following Germany's defeat inWorld War II in 1945, the area became again part of Poland.
