Cwm railway station served the village ofCwm inMonmouthshire, Wales.[1]
The station was originally opened by theMonmouthshire Railway and Canal Company on 19 April 1852.[2][3] It became part of theGreat Western Railway in 1880[4] and remained there at theGrouping of 1923.[5] The line then passed on to theWestern Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948. The station was closed to passengers by theBritish Transport Commission on 30 April 1962,[2][3] remaining open for goods traffic until 4 November 1963.[6]
A new station on theEbbw Valley Railway, which would serve the community ofCwm, South Wales has been proposed.[7] Planning permission has not yet been granted, and the station was not included in the first stage of the line reopening plan, which created a passenger service betweenCardiff Central andEbbw Vale Parkway in 2008.[8]
