Curacoa is asubmarine volcano locatedsouth of the Curacoa Reef in northernTonga. The reef is 24fm North ofTafahi in theNiua Islands.[2] Eruptions were observed in 1973 and 1979 from two separate vents. The 1973 eruption produced a largeraft ofdaciticpumice, and had avolcanic explosivity index (VEI) of 3.
