Crystal Envy is the stage name ofChristopher Cianci (born February 8, 1997),[1][2] an Americandrag performer who competed on theseventeenth season ofRuPaul's Drag Race, and received the title of Miss Congeniality for the season.
Cianci was born inStaten Island, New York, and moved toNew Jersey at the age of 7.[1] He grew up inJackson, New Jersey.[3] He began doing makeup at the age of 13 or 14,[4] met his "drag mother" Jade Embers onTumblr in 2011, and started doingdrag in high school as Crystal Envy Embers[5] until stopping at the age of 18. He resumed doing drag in 2020, during theCOVID-19 pandemic.[1][6]
Crystal Envy is a drag performer who competed on theseventeenth season ofRuPaul's Drag Race.[7][8] She was the first contestant fromAsbury Park to compete on the show.[9] Placing eleventh overall, she was sent home after losing alip-sync contest againstLana Ja'Rae to "Hands to Myself" bySelena Gomez[10] on theSnatch Game episode (of the same name),[11] in which Crystal Envy impersonatedNicole Richie.[12][13] Before being eliminated, she had placed in the top three out of five times.[14] During thefinale, Crystal Envy was crowned Miss Congeniality. She additionally works full-time as a bridal and celebritymake-up artist, owning her own business.[1] Through her business, she had worked with clients such asDolores Catania.[6]
Crystal Envy has competed inpageants, having been crowned MissParadise 2022.[15] She is the fourth Miss Paradise to compete onDrag Race, afterHoney Davenport,Olivia Lux, andSapphira Cristál. Prior to winning the pageant, she had competed for Miss Glamorous Newcomer inOrlando, Florida.[1][6] Her Instagram following grew by 160 percent while the show aired.[16]
Cianci is based in Asbury Park.[17]
Crystal Envy's "drag sister" isseason 14 alumniJasmine Kennedie.[18] They are related through theHouse of Mandell, of which they are both members. Crystal Envy claims "house mother" Mancie Mandell as one of her drag mentors.[19]
