Cromwell at Dunbar is an 1886history painting by the EnglishartistAndrew Carrick Gow.[1][2] It depicts the Britishgeneral and futureLord Protector of the CommonwealthOliver Cromwell at theBattle of Dunbar on 3 September 1650 during theWar of the Three Kingdoms. The battle was a decisive victory for theNew Model Army over theScottish Covenanters.
Today the painting is in the collection of theTate Britain inLondon, having been acquired through theChantrey Bequest the same year.[3]
