Critter Country is one of the lands atTokyo Disneyland. There was also a version of the land formerly atDisneyland Park. At Disneyland Park it opened in 1972 asBear Country, with theCountry Bear Jamboree (1972–2001) as its centerpiece. In 1988 it was renamed Critter Country, and in 2024 it was renamedBayou Country.[1]
Critter Country opened atTokyo Disneyland in 1992. Its main attraction isSplash Mountain, a log flume ride based on the animated sequences of Disney's 1946 filmSong of the South. The other attraction in this area isBeaver Brothers Explorer Canoes. Because of the land's small size and the popularity of Splash Mountain, Critter Country is extremely crowded throughout the day. Characters from backstory material written for the former American versions of Splash Mountain to explain how Chickapin Hill came to be flooded are visualized within the area, with the Beaver Brothers having built a dam that was destroyed by an explodingmoonshine still owned by saloon owner Rackety Raccoon.
