Cretea

Place at Mt. Lykaion in Greek mythology

Cretea (/ˈkrti.ə/;[1]Greek:Κρητέα) was the name of a place on the top of MountLycaeus, inArcadia, on the left side of the grove ofApollo. The Arcadians called the mountainOlympus and "holy mountain". The mountain lies between theAlfeios River and the coast ofKyparissia. The Arcadians claimed that theCrete where the Cretan story has it thatZeus was reared was this place and not the island.[2]Rhea went to Cretea in order to escape from her husband,Cronus, who ate their children, and she gave birth toZeus there.
