TheCowra Shire is alocal government area in theCentral West region ofNew South Wales, Australia. The Shire is located adjacent to theLachlan River, theMid-Western Highway and theLachlan Valley Way.
The largest town and council seat isCowra. The municipality also has a number of small villages:Billimari,Darbys Falls,Gooloogong,Morongla,Noonbinna,Wattamondara,Woodstock, andWyangala.
Themayor of Cowra Shire Council is Ruth Fagan.
Cowra Shire Council has ninecouncillors electedproportionally as a singleward. All councillors are elected for a fixed four-year term of office. Themayor is elected by the councillors at the first meeting of the council. The most recent by-election was held on 21 December 2021, and the makeup of the council is as follows:[4]
