Acounter-celebration orcounter-observance oralternative commemoration can be a form ofprotest of aholiday's commemoration by challenging itsdominant narrative with an alternative event, often representing a social cause such asindigenous rights, and involving symbolic subversion in the style ofculture jamming.^[1]^[2]
