Count of Neiva (in PortugueseConde de Neiva) is a Portuguese title granted, in 1373 by KingFerdinand I of Portugal, toDom Gonçalo Teles de Meneses, brother of QueenLeonor Telles de Meneses.
Dom Gonçalo was also Lord ofFaria, and that is why some authors, incorrectly, call himCount of Neiva and Faria.
Later, the County was granted toFernando of Braganza and when Fernando became 2ndDuke of Braganza (1461), Count of Neiva became a subsidiary title of theHouse of Braganza.
