Cosmic Princess Kaguya! (Japanese:超かぐや姫!,Hepburn:Chō Kaguya-hime!) is an upcoming Japaneseanimatedmusicalfantasy[1][2] film directed by Shingo Yamashita in his feature directorial debut. A reimagining of the folktaleThe Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, it will be produced byStudio Colorido and Studio Chromato with character designs from Hechima and Akihiro Nagae. The film will feature music fromVocaloid producers Ryo ofSupercell, Yuigot,Aqu3ra [ja],HoneyWorks,40mP [ja], and Kz ofLivetune. It is scheduled to premiere onNetflix on January 22, 2026.

In April 2022,Studio Colorido signed a deal withNetflix to co-produce three feature-lengthanime films for the platform,[4] with the first two films beingDrifting Home (2022) andMy Oni Girl (2024).[5] In November 2025, Netflix announced that Shingo Yamashita will direct his first feature-length film,Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, that is scheduled to release on January 22, 2026.[6] He had previously directed theopening sequences for several anime series, including thefirst season ofJujutsu Kaisen andChainsaw Man.[3] The film is a reimagining of the Japanese folktaleThe Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.[2]
Studio Chromato, where Yamashita serves as the representative director,[7] will produce the animation with Studio Colorido; the film is Studio Chromato's first production.[3][6] Akihiro Nagae, who worked onDrifting Home, and illustrator Hechima will handle the character designs,[8] andVocaloid producers Ryo ofSupercell, Yuigot,Aqu3ra [ja],HoneyWorks,40mP [ja], and Kz ofLivetune will provide music for the film, including the theme song.Yūko Natsuyoshi,Anna Nagase, andSaori Hayami were cast as the main characters Kaguya, Iroha Sakayori, and Yachiyo Runami.[3][6]
A teaser poster and trailer were released along with the film's announcement in November 2025. The trailer featured a remix of Ryo's 2008 Vocaloid song "World Is Mine", originally performed byHatsune Miku. Hayami provided the vocals for the remix, titled "World Is Mine CPK! Remix", as her character Yachiyo Runami.[1][8] Three additional trailers featuring each main character were released in the same month.[8]
